Time and Location:
The ceremony will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 on the Hickory campus. It will begin promptly at 7:00 pm in PE Monroe Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. Attendance is open seating and does not require tickets.
Asheville and Columbia graduates:
Students from Asheville or Columbia who complete their degree requirements in December are invited to participate in the ceremony in May at their respective location, if they’d prefer.
Accommodations for Persons with Disabilities:

Parking & Shuttle Service:
There will be a limited number of handicapped parking spaces in front of the Auditorium where drivers can also drop off guests.
Photos and videos may be taken from the audience or from a designated area by the stage. The University has contracted with a professional company, Photo Specialties, who will photograph each graduate receiving their diploma and post the photos online for you to view or order at PhotoSpecialties.com. An individual password for each graduate will be e-mailed from Photo Specialties when photos are posted.In addition a paper proof will be mailed to each graduates' permanent address. There is no obligation to buy.
Dr. Janet Painter of the College of Education and Human Services, recipient of the 2015 Raymond M. Bost Distinguished Professor award, will be the speaker.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception to honor the graduates and their families will be held in the Cromer Center Lobby for approximately one hour. All guests are invited.

Applications: Graduation applications are available beginning one year before your ceremony. You can download the form by going to registrar.lr.edu/forms, opening up Registrar Forms, then Application for Graduation. Applications are due by October 23 in the Registrar’s Office. Late applications may result in your name being omitted from the commencement program.
You are expected to attend the ceremony unless you have received permission in writing from the Provost to graduate in absentia. To seek approval to graduate in absentia, please email email@example.com and provide your justification for missing this important ceremony.
Diplomas: Diplomas will be withheld from those students with outstanding financial obligations to the University. Please check with the Business Office prior to Graduation.
Only diploma covers will be handed out during the ceremony. After the ceremony has ended, you can pick up your diploma in the Fireside Room in Cromer Center. Representatives from Enrollment Management will be available to hand out diplomas for approximately one hour after commencement concludes. Note: Friends/family members may not pick up your diploma on your behalf.
The Grad Info Fair will be held in Cromer Center lobby at two different times, for your convenience. One stop is all it takes to get every commencement-related question answered.

All August and December graduates who have met all degree requirements and approval will assemble promptly at 6:00 pm in the Mauney Music Building lobby (one hour before the ceremony). There will be no rehearsal. All graduates are expected to attend the commencement exercises unless you have received permission to graduate in absentia, in writing from the Provost. Personal Dress: Graduates should wear clothing appropriate for a significant occasion. Improper dress may cause a graduate to be withdrawn from participation.
Honor Cords: Gold, silver, and bronze honor cords will be given for summa, magna, and cum laude graduates (respectively) during the line-up for the processional. Other cords, pins, and medallions will be allowed only if they are symbolic of campus-wide and programmatic academic honors.
Processional: Graduates will form a single line in the Music Building lobby in alphabetical order by degree programs, under direction of the Dean of Students. Bachelor’s graduates are to wear your tassel on the right side of your cap. Master’s graduates are to wear your tassel on the left side and carry your hood over one arm (you will be hooded as part of the ceremony). Follow the Faculty Marshal’s lead to the front of the Auditorium, where you will pass through the two lines formed by the faculty. Proceed inside following the Faculty Marshal’s signals. Remain standing once you reach your reserved seats until instructed to sit.
Presentation of Diplomas: Follow Dr. Powell’s instructions to bachelor’s graduates to simultaneously move your tassel to the left side of your cap. You will be directed to the stage, row by row. Remain seated until your row is called. When your name is read, proceed to the Secretary of the Faculty, who will hand you the diploma cover. Continue across to shake hands with the President of the University and other dignitaries, smile as your professional photo is taken, and return to your seat.
All master’s graduates will rise and carry your hoods to the stage when signaled to do so. Your program’s advisor will place the hood upon you.
Recessional: Led by the Faculty Marshal, follow the stage party to exit the Auditorium, front row first, to pick up your diploma in Cromer Center’s Fireside Room.
Reception: The reception will follow immediately in the Cromer Center Lobby for approximately one hour.
