His classes were always interesting and informative. His compassion was beyond measure. He was so patient and kind explaining background information for a story I was writing in a Journalism class. He also came to my church and gave a talk on Euthanasia…he truly was a caring person, fantastic professor, and good friend. I too am shocked and saddened to hear of Dr. Ashman’s passing. The memories are still etched in my mind, all the great/fun places we traveled and the new families we met all along the way. One of the things remembered most was the team work amongst us all. We all had a particular job on the tour which made the this tour even more special. Staying with a family while on tour was eye-opening, but humbling too. Sure was great to meet other folks across America who loved our music just like we did. Dr. Weber should be everything to each of you. In short, he had guts, which are unfortunately in short supply in academia. I am saddened to know just recently of his passing, and I offer my best wishes to his family and the LR community. As a colleague of Dr. Ashman in the early 1980s, I remember him fondly as a mentor and a courageous campus citizen who challenged his students, faculty colleagues, and administration to observe the highest standards of academic and professional integrity.
