Joel Krenz joined Lenoir-Rhyne as assistant athletic director for media and communications in summer 2024.

Krenz comes to LR after three years at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky. Originally the director of communications at KWC, Krenz was promoted to assistant athletic director for strategic communications and fan engagement in early 2024. While at Wesleyan, Krenz was instrumental in orchestrating a partnership with Sidearm Sports to create the Panther Athletics App, giving Panther fans easier access to all their favorite teams. He upgraded their presence on social media, used the help of students to put together one of the top broadcasts in the G-MAC and was on the conference’s championship committee.

In addition to his duties at Wesleyan, Krenz was the official scorer for the NCAA DII Men's Basketball Elite Eight in 2023 and 2024 were he helped with statistics for the Kentucky 2A and Tennessee state championships. He has run more than 15 conference championships.

Krenz  is from Hoffman, Illinois and graduated from Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School, where he played soccer, basketball and ran track. He is the son of Rev. Dr. Stephen and Lisa Krenz, and has one sister, Anna.
