Shena Hollar

Shena Hollar serves as the softball head coach at Lenoir-Rhyne since 1999. She owns 850 all-time wins and has a career-winning percentage of .739. She has been honored as the South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year seven times and won 12 regular season SAC championships and eight SAC Tournament titles. 

Since Hollar has been at Lenoir-Rhyne, the softball team has reached nine consecutive NCAA tournaments from 2006-2014 and sent the program record with 21 straight winning seasons. In addition, they have won 21 NCAA Tournament games. Since 2009, the Bears have been nationally ranked for 100 weeks, including 30 consecutive weeks. In 2017, the Bears ranked as high as No. 5 nationally.

Under her leadership, Hollar has coached seven All-Americans, including Sarah Atkins and Kat Rivers, earning First Team All-American honors in 2010. In addition, Hollar has coached more than 100 players to All-Conference accolades and more than 70 All-Region honors. In more than 20 seasons, Hollar has had eight SAC Pitchers of the Year, seven SAC Tournament MVPs, four SAC Players of the Year and four SAC Freshmen of the Year. Hollar has also had three players selected as Academic All-Americans, including Talon LaClair, who became the program's first First Team Academic All-American in history in 2020. Hollar won her 800th game at LR on March 13, 2019. Hollar was named to the Alexander County Sports Hall Of Fame in 2015 as well.

Prior to Lenoir-Rhyne, Hollar coached two years at Newberry while compiling a 45-61 mark and earning a share of the 1999 SAC regular season crown.
