Tyler Jones

Tyler Jones joined LR in July of 2024 as the Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Golf programs. He brings with him seven years of high-level coaching and playing experience.

Jones comes to the university after spending three seasons as the head men’s golf coach at Spartanburg Methodist College (NJCAA DI). While at SMC, he led the Pioneers to three consecutive NJCAA National Championship appearances. In just three seasons, his Spartanburg Methodist teams won a total of six events, including three in the 2022 season alone.

He has coached seven individual champions, and in 2023 he helped lead Joy Outhous to an individual women’s national championship appearance. During the 2021-22 season, he coached Drew Greene to a ninth-place finish at nationals. In addition to his success on the course, he has had 14 Academic All-Region Honorees and two Academic All-Americans.

As a player, Jones was a part of seven team wins while competing at NCAA DII Erskine College. He was a part of 11 team top-five finishes and helped set a school record for lowest team scoring average. He was a three-time Conference Carolinas All-Academic Honoree and was a part of the 2018 and 2019 NCCAA Men’s Golf National Championship team. Individually, he was a three-time NCCAA Southeast All-Region honoree and a two-time NCCAA All-American Honoree.
