• Return to Normal University Operations on Thursday, Feb. 20

Lenoir-Rhyne University will return to normal university operations on Thursday, Feb. 20, at our all of our campus locations—Hickory, Columbia and Asheville. Classes will resume as scheduled, and all offices will be open.

UPDATE: Feb. 20, 9:15 a.m. (from Academic Affairs)
Due to the recent weather changes in Hickory, you may opt to move your classes to remote delivery today if you have concerns about safely traveling to campus. If you choose to hold classes remotely, please notify your students and your dean as soon as possible.

For those holding in-person classes, we ask that you exercise flexibility with attendance policies, understanding that some students may face transportation challenges or safety concerns. Students should not feel compelled to risk unsafe travel conditions to attend class.

Please communicate your teaching plans to your students and your dean.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring everyone's safety while maintaining academic continuity.

Help Preserve Our Legacy!

Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary is embarking on an exciting project to document its rich history. As we prepare for our 200th anniversary in 2030 and commemorate our move from Columbia to Hickory, we invite you to share your stories.

Your voice matters!

By sharing your experiences as an alumnus/a, faculty member, student, friend or staff, you'll help create a valuable historical record. Your stories will be preserved in an online archive, ensuring that our legacy lives on for generations to come.

How can you help?

  • Share your story: Participate in oral history interviews or submit written reflections.
  • Volunteer your time: Assist with project tasks, such as transcribing interviews or organizing materials.
  • Spread the word: Encourage others to contribute their stories and support the project.

Together, we can preserve our past and shape our future.

This project is in its beginning phases. If you have questions or ideas, please contact Cat Niekro at cat.niekro@lr.edu.
