• Return to Normal University Operations on Thursday, Feb. 20

Lenoir-Rhyne University will return to normal university operations on Thursday, Feb. 20, at our all of our campus locations—Hickory, Columbia and Asheville. Classes will resume as scheduled, and all offices will be open.

UPDATE: Feb. 20, 9:15 a.m. (from Academic Affairs)
Due to the recent weather changes in Hickory, you may opt to move your classes to remote delivery today if you have concerns about safely traveling to campus. If you choose to hold classes remotely, please notify your students and your dean as soon as possible.

For those holding in-person classes, we ask that you exercise flexibility with attendance policies, understanding that some students may face transportation challenges or safety concerns. Students should not feel compelled to risk unsafe travel conditions to attend class.

Please communicate your teaching plans to your students and your dean.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring everyone's safety while maintaining academic continuity.

Social Media

Connect with and follow Lenoir-Rhyne University through our institutional social media accounts.

Social media brings together audiences across various platforms to engage in interactive storytelling. To help you share your story, we have created the following tools and processes.

The university encourages its departments, colleges, programs, groups, clubs and organizations to build thoughtful and lasting relationships online with not only current and future students, but with faculty, staff, alumni, community members and friends of the university.

We have developed social media guidelines, a registration process, and a social media content request form to help you stay on brand and ensure all interactions on behalf of LR are done thoughtfully.

All social media accounts recognized by the university through the registration process are listed on this site. Apply now to have your Lenoir-Rhyne social media accounts officially recognized.

  • Account Registration

Lenoir-Rhyne University encourages departments, units, program, groups, and clubs to register their social media account with the university. Officially recognized accounts will also receive promotion through the official LR social media accounts and will be listed on the official channels’ webpage.

A few things to consider before starting the registration process:

    • Multiple administrators: All officially recognized social media accounts must have at least two identified account administrators. If someone leaves the university or no longer is assisting with running the account, it is your responsibility to inform Marketing and Communications of the change.
    • Username: Usernames should contain “lr” “lru” or “lenoirrhyne” e.g., “@LRBearsFootball”
    • Account name: Should contain “Lenoir-Rhyne.” E.g., “Lenoir-Rhyne Learning Commons,” as opposed to “Learning Commons”
    • Account bio: You must mention Lenoir-Rhyne along with your department/unit/club’s name. For example: “The Lenoir-Rhyne University Office of Alumni Engagement aims to connect all LR alumni and friends with the university and one another. Go Bears!” Also: “Welcome to the official Facebook account for the Office of Undergraduate Admission at Lenoir-Rhyne University.”
    • Profile pictures: For social media icons, cover photos and profile photos, please use high-quality images and logos that fulfill the branding guidelines.
    • Guidelines: Refer to the Social Media Guidelines for style information, word choice help, and general social media inquiries.

Note: Unofficial social media accounts may not represent themselves as sanctioned by Lenoir-Rhyne. A new or existing social media account will be denied official status under one or more of the following circumstances:
    The registration form fails to:

    • Identify at least one faculty/staff member as an account administrator
    • Indicate intended target audience(s)
    • Provide the goals and rationale for social media involvement
    • The account does not conform to proper logo usage or other guidelines set forth by LR Marketing and Communications
    • Does not follow accessibility best practices

Once your registration form is submitted electronically, please allow up to 10 business days for review and an emailed response. Questions about this form may be directed to social@lr.edu.
