• University Storm Recovery Updates

    UPDATE: Tuesday, Oct. 29, 8:30 a.m.
We are pleased to announce that Wi-Fi service has been restored to the Asheville Center. Current students, faculty, and staff may now access the building for study, work or other necessary activities. Please note there may be occasional short outages as our service provider continues the recovery process.

Drinking water is not available in the building. Some bottled water is available on site, but we encourage anyone using the building to bring their own drinking water if possible. The bathrooms on site now have working toilets.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate the challenges posed by Hurricane Helene. Please stay tuned for further updates.

Fall 2023 COVID-19 Update

TO: All LR Students, Faculty and Staff (all campuses)
FR: Dr. Fred Whitt, President
DT: August 21, 2023

The Center for Disease Control, the American College of Health Associations, and the American Council on Education have updated their guidelines for college campuses for the fall 2023 semester. In light of the ongoing concern related to outbreaks and our responsibility to our faculty, staff and students; Lenoir-Rhyne will continue to be vigilant in our efforts related to COVID-19 on all three campuses.

Does Lenoir-Rhyne require the vaccine or boosters?

Lenoir-Rhyne is not requiring the vaccine or boosters at this time. However, we strongly recommend that all faculty, staff and students get the appropriate vaccine and/or the most up-to-date booster when eligible (see CDC vaccine guidance information). We also strongly recommend an annual influenza shot. Campus clinics will be scheduled later in the fall.

How can we help prevent the spread of communicable diseases such as COVID-19?

  1. Frequent and good handwashing
  2. Practice social distancing and avoid crowded areas.
  3. Wear a mask, especially if you are immunocompromised, symptomatic of some type of upper respiratory disease, or prefer to for personal protection.
What should I do if I have been exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms?
  1. Report COVID-19 symptoms and/or a positive diagnosis or Rebound COVID-19 to:
    Students: Harry Titus at harry.titus@lr.edu
    Faculty: Judy Lineberger at judy.lineberger@lr.edu
    Staff: Revonda Reed at revonda.reed@lr.edu

  2. Schedule and complete a COVID-19 test at Cornerstone Health, local pharmacy, urgent care or your healthcare provider if you are symptomatic or concerned about exposure.  We require that you provide a copy of the results to the appropriate contact person as listed above.

Lenoir-Rhyne will accept the results of a home test kit.  You are required to take a photo of the completed test with an accompanying card that states your name, LR email, phone number and date and time of test. You will email photo to your designated contact (see number 1 above).

  3. You will receive an email with an attached document outlining Lenoir-Rhyne’s protocols for persons diagnosed or exposed to COVID-19 from the appropriate campus person or their designee.

  4. Notify your professors, coaches, and others as appropriate of your current status.  Official notification to professors will come from the Dean of Students.

Please know the guidelines and follow all guidelines carefully.
