Graduate Assistant, International Education


Location: Hickory, North Carolina

Job Description

  • Assist with international student support, including social and cultural support.
  • Assist with new student orientation for international students.
  • Assist with planning, organizing and hosting weekly events for U.S. and international students involved in the center’s global communities.
  • Assist with managing the center’s peer mentorship program and residential learning community.
  • Assist with regular communication with students in the center’s global communities via email, RAFTR and WhatsApp.
  • Assist with campus-wide international education events.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks such as copying, filing and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled as a graduate student at LR.
  • Must be available for regular weekend and evening hours. A willingness to work a flexible schedule depending on daily/weekly needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of managing culturally sensitive situations; willing to work with a diverse population of students with varying needs.
  • Strong sense of and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Experience living, working or studying abroad is preferred.

Please note that this position is work in exchange for tuition remission.
