Community Health Nursing Faculty
The School of Nursing Program faculty have primary responsibility for design and implementation of the educational curriculum, facilitation of all aspects of student learning and student advisement for achievement of educational goals. This faculty position in the School of Nursing is focused on the specialty area of Community Health Nursing and requires expertise with well-defined community/public health clinical experience. Successful candidates demonstrate a commitment and capacity for academic leadership, teaching excellence, student mentorship, scholarly and professional engagement, and campus citizenship. All positions are based on enrollment and subject to available funding.

Essential Faculty Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows the Lenoir-Rhyne School of Nursing policies and procedures
- Follows the chain of command as described in the School of Nursing policies
- Collaborates with other faculty for the success of the nursing program
- Participates in the planning, implementing and evaluating of the nursing curriculum, the courses, the concepts and by demonstrating the inclusion of concepts and exemplars
- Collaborates with other faculty and team regarding criteria for evaluation and grading
- Advises and counsels Lenoir-Rhyne University student advisees as assigned imparting current curriculum rulings and requirements
- Actively participates with fellow faculty in evaluating aspects of the School of Nursing as specified in the evaluation plan; for example, conducting ATI student and class analysis and providing feedback in a timely manner
- Participates and shares feedback regarding activities from standing and ad hoc committees as assigned
- Performs duties of teaching and course coordination as assigned by the chair
- Participates and shares feedback on a nursing faculty committee as assigned
- Collaborates, develops, and coordinates with fellow faculty members regarding seminars, labs, coordination of classroom and clinical components
- Performs duties as assigned incidentally in the School of Nursing.
- Participates as an integral part of the Lenoir-Rhyne faculty in university activities of recruitment and retention
- Collaborates in a manner that promotes achievement of university and school of nursing objectives as evidenced by problem solving and communicating in a timely manner
- Assesses and advocates regarding student needs
- Plans, conducts, supervises and evaluates learning experiences
- Develops and updates courses, unit objectives, syllabi, including curricular concepts and exemplars
- Provides timely feedback regarding student performance
- Documents student behavior in relation to classroom clinical/lab, seminar, and program outcomes
- Develops and documents behavior improvement plans for students following through on action plans
- Analyzes curriculum and procedures providing input into the planning and implementation phases that includes subject, content areas, critical concepts and nursing rules as prescribed by CCNE, AACN, NCBON and SACSCOC.
Qualifications
- Required to have at a minimum of a master's degree in a nursing field, from an accredited nursing program
- Required to hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina or be eligible to receive a license
- Required to have a minimum of two full time years in client care, clinical experience, at least one of which is in potential teaching responsibility (community health nursing)
- Required to have preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education which may be demonstrated by one of the following criteria approved through the NCBON:
- Completion of 45 Contact Hours of Continuing Education Courses
- Completion of a Certificate Program in Nursing Education
- Nine Semester hours of educational course work
- National certification in nursing education
- Documentation of successful completion of structured, individualized development of at least 45 contact hours approved by the NC Board of Nursing (Criteria for approval include content in the faculty role within curriculum implementation, objectives to be met and evaluated, review of strategies for identified student population and expectations of student and faculty performance (NCBON)
- Preferred teaching experience in nursing in the clinical setting and/or classroom is desirable
- Required to possess strong organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills
- Preferred to have a record of professional, academic, and administrative achievement
- Preferred to have active participation/leadership in local, regional or national nursing organization
- Required to have a strong commitment to achieve the mission of the School of Nursing program and Lenoir-Rhyne University

The College of Health Sciences at Lenoir-Rhyne University provides current and practical knowledge and skills that prepares students for success in differing health science careers. The college offers four undergraduate degrees: Exercise Science, Nursing, Public Health, and Sports Management. At the graduate level the college offers: Master of Science in Exercise Science, Master of Public Health, Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy.
