Chemistry Minor
Gain creative and analytical insight into this “central science,” which bridges physics, geology and biology.
Our program allows you to explore the fundamental principles of chemistry and understand how it bridges physics, geology and biology.
Through courses general chemistry, qualitative analysis and organic chemistry, plus extensive laboratory experience, you will develop a broad understanding of principles, theories and calculations used in the field.
A minor in chemistry is particularly useful if you are striving for a career in environmental science, biology, business, law or education. Additionally, a minor in chemistry helps to prepare you for graduate study in pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, forensics and biotechnology.
A minor in Chemistry requires 22-23 hours consisting of the following:
-
Minor Requirements
- CHE 103 - General Chemistry and Qualitative Analysis I
- CHE 103L - General Chemistry and Qualitative Analysis Laboratory I
- CHE 104 - General Chemistry and Qualitative Analysis II
- CHE 104L - General Chemistry and Qualitative Analysis Laboratory II
- CHE 201 - Organic Chemistry
- CHE 201L - Organic Chemistry Laboratory
- CHE 202 - Organic Chemistry
- CHE 202L - Organic Chemistry Laboratory
- CHE 321 - Analytical Chemistry I
- CHE 321L - Analytical Chemistry I Laboratory
- CHE Electives above CHE 210 Hours: 3-4
I chose a minor in chemistry because I wanted to showcase my strength in biology and also chemistry. It was easy for me to add the chemistry minor without making my class schedule impossible.
