Lisa Harris serves as the director of the professional studies program and is a professor of business and communication within the College of Business and Economics. She joined Lenoir-Rhyne in 1998. During her tenure, she has also served as chairperson for the Journalism and Mass Communication program and faculty advisor for the student-run campus newspaper.

Harris teaches courses in business communication, ethics, management and leadership, with expertise centered around teaching and developing multi-type courses utilizing learning management systems in a variety of platforms including online, hybrid or traditional face-to-face.

Her research interests primarily focus on online instructional design, professional and business communication and the use of Open Educational Resources. In 2020, she received a grant from NC Live to explore using open educational resources within courses. In 2006, she received the Lenoir-Rhyne Community Service Award for her work in nonprofit organizations.
