Amy Hedrick is the dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and a professor of psychology. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship with the Carolina Consortium on Human Development at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.    

Hedrick teaches courses on human development, memory, cognition, methods and statistics. Her research focuses on how social exchanges influence the development of children's cognitive skills in multiple contexts, specifically at the intersection of home and school. Hedrick's published work is featured in several venues. She received the 2009 Editor's Choice Award for Best Article in the Journal of Cognition and Development.    

Hedrick was the 2016 Raymond Morris Bost Distinguished Professor, given annually to honor an LR faculty member for outstanding teaching and mentorship.
