Carla Fowler serves as the assistant dean of students since January 2025, where she is dedicated to fostering student success and well-being. With more than a decade of experience in higher education, Fowler specializes in providing personalized support to students, addressing barriers to academic achievement, and creating innovative programs that enhance the student experience. Her passion for student advocacy and holistic development drives her work in this dynamic role.
Before her current position, Fowler was director of student support and outreach. As assistant dean, she continues to oversee this office through development and management of programs that connect students with essential resources, collaborate with faculty and staff across campus and implement systems to support students' academic and personal growth.
As assistant dean of students, Fowler will also support critical functions in the Division of Student Affairs such as policy development, strategic initiatives and data-driven decision-making. She is a trusted advisor to students, staff and faculty, working tirelessly to create an environment where every student can thrive. Fowler's leadership philosophy centers on collaboration, empathy and continuous improvement, ensuring that Lenoir-Rhyne remains a place of opportunity and excellence for all.
In addition to her degrees, Fowler holds a NCLCA Level II Learning Center Professional certification, an Equitable Leadership Certificate from the Lenoir-Rhyne Equity & Diversity Institute and is also QPR Gatekeeper Trainer certified in suicide prevention education and brings a wealth of knowledge, insight and compassion to her role.
