Safety & Emergency Preparedness

Lenoir-Rhyne has developed emergency and crisis communication plans to respond to and disseminate information during an emergency, or when events impact normal campus operations.

The campus community should closely monitor and follow the information on official university communication channels, including LR Alerts (SafeZone App), campus email, notifications posted to the university website and LR's main institutional social media accounts.

LR Alerts (SafeZone App)

For LR Alerts, the SafeZone App has replaced Rave Alerts for campus emergency notifications via text message, email and push notifications.

SafeZone uses the latest GPS technology to give you peace of mind wherever you go. It’s free for all Lenoir-Rhyne students, faculty, and staff. Inside the designated SafeZone areas, the app provides you with immediate access to the LR Public Safety team.

The SafeZone app provides instant access to help in emergencies, providing direct communication with Public Safety staff on campus, real-time safety alerts and quick location sharing during crises.

Inclement Weather Policy & Notifications

Lenoir-Rhyne University may change its operating status during and surrounding periods of inclement weather.

At such times, the university has a prescribed method for evaluation and communication of these changes to university staff, faculty, students, and the public.

The decision to cancel classes, close the university, cancel or postpone university-sponsored programs or activities is based on our overall concern for the safety of the university community and continuity of services and support for residential students.
