LR expands half-off tuition program to whole state
Lenoir-Rhyne offers 50 percent off tuition to any North Carolina resident who is a first-year student or select transfer students for the LR Promise.
Lenoir-Rhyne University announced today an expansion of its Catawba County Promise to provide the same tuition benefits statewide.
Now called the Lenoir-Rhyne Promise, the program offers a minimum of 50 percent off tuition to any North Carolina resident who is a first-year undergraduate student with a 3.5 or higher high school GPA or to a transfer undergraduate student with more than 30 earned credit hours from an accredited North Carolina community college and a 3.5 GPA.
The LR Promise, which covers tuition only, applies to new and full-time undergraduate students starting fall 2020.
Through this and other initiatives, LR reaffirms the University's commitment for students to receive a liberal arts education that is accessible and affordable to all and recognizes high-performing students.
"At Lenoir-Rhyne, we strive to make higher education as accessible as possible, recognizing that paying for college is a top concern for students and their families," said University President Dr. Fred Whitt. "We want high-performing students to know that a Lenoir-Rhyne education is possible for them, and we want to make the process easier. We pride ourselves on small class sizes, personalized attention, and outstanding faculty that are the hallmarks of a Lenoir-Rhyne education."
Tuition for the 2019-20 academic year is $37,400 for a full-time undergraduate student, meaning a student who qualifies for the LR Promise would receive financial aid of at least $18,700. Tuition will be set for the 2020-21 academic year later this fall. The LR Promise is renewable for up to four years, or eight semesters, as an undergraduate student at the initial amount if a student remains in good standing with the University.
North Carolina residents who apply to LR and meet the qualifications will automatically be a part of the program; no separate application is required. Students will be required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form, and the program will be inclusive of all institutional, federal and state grant programs.
