Lenoir-Rhyne University Care Team
The Lenoir-Rhyne University Care Team is dedicated to supporting students who may be facing challenges that impact their well-being, academic success or campus life.
Comprised of representatives from key areas across the university, the Care Team collaborates to provide timely interventions for students who exhibit concerning or disruptive behaviors. These behaviors may include, but are not limited to, threats of self-harm, emotional or physical outbursts, sudden changes in behavior, difficulty adjusting to campus life, excessive substance use, or traumatic experiences.
By offering comprehensive support, the Care Team ensures a holistic approach to student care, helping students navigate personal and academic challenges.

Why Refer a Student?
Every member of the Lenoir-Rhyne community plays a vital role in supporting students in distress. Faculty, staff, peers and even visitors are often the first to notice changes in behavior or signs of struggle.
The Care Team encourages all individuals to be proactive by submitting a Student Concern Referral Form if they observe behaviors indicating that a student may need assistance. Referrals not only support the individual student but also contribute to the safety and well-being of the entire campus community.
-
How to Make a Referral
Anyone can submit a referral using the online Student Concern Referral Form. It’s important to trust your instincts—if you notice something concerning, the Care Team is here to assess the situation and take appropriate action.
-
What Happens After a Referral?
Once a referral is submitted, the Care Team reviews the case to determine the most appropriate response. This process may involve outreach to the student, coordination with campus or community resources, and the creation of a personalized care action plan.
The goal is to provide timely support that meets the student’s needs while maintaining campus safety. Depending on the situation, the Care Team may consult with various departments, such as counseling services, residence life or public safety, to ensure an effective and comprehensive response.
-
Confidentiality & Privacy
The Care Team is committed to safeguarding student privacy. Information shared through referrals is handled with discretion, and details are only shared with those who need to know to provide support or ensure safety. The Care Team balances the individual’s well-being with campus needs, working carefully to protect student confidentiality while facilitating the best possible outcomes.
